Leaders discuss health issues

Written By : Sandra Ah Sam. The president of the Seventh day Adventist Church in the South Pacific and the permanent secretary of Fiji’s Ministry of Health met to discuss health issues yesterday.
Doctor Barry Oliver visited Fiji as the leader of the Adventist Church in the South Pacific for the first time.
He said the Seventh-day Adventist Church was committed to helping the people of Fiji live healthy lives and hoped to establish a firm relationship with the ministry for future projects.
Fiji Mission Adventist Media Network spokesperson Semi Francis said Mr Oliver would thank the ministry for its support and assistance in the continued success of the Sydney Adventist Hospital’s annual Operation Open Heart programme.
“He will have discussions with the Ministry of Health to continue with the partnership they have developed over so many years,” said Mr Francis.
“One of the biggest strengths of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church is health, education and nutrition.
“The church looks forward to strengthening its relationship with the ministry in promoting quality health programmes and future projects to help the people of Fiji.”
Operation Open Heart leader Melanie Windus said this was the team’s 17th visit to Fiji over the past 16 years.
