Written By : FijiSun SunBiz. Vodafone Fiji Limited is on a bid to offer half a million dollars worth of scholarships to 40 potential students in the country.
Fifteen students will be given the chance to apply to the University of the South Pacific and another 25 students to the Fiji Institute of Technology for the scholarship.
Eligibility of the scholarships will be for students who has good grades and marks in their form 7 or foundation courses and whose parent’s joint income does not exceed $20,000 per annum.
Students must achieve a minimum Grade Point Average Grade to continue to be part of the award.
Vodafone manager corporate affairs Shailendra Prasad said the advertisement would be administered by USP and FIT.
“USP and FIT will run the ads in the papers sometimes in September 2009 and selections will be done by the appointed board,” said Mr Prasad
USP’s acting Vice Chancellor, Dr Esther Williams said the scholarship not only encourage talented young Fijians to excel in their studies but also open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between USP and Vodafone.
“Through these funding assistance, USP together with Vodafone aims to cultivate and foster highly skilled and talented students for Fiji’s workforce” said Dr Williams.
Students who want to further their education in diploma and bachelors degree in computing science, information system and engineering technology are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
