Sami: Report child abuse

More than 130 cases of child abuse have been recorded since January 2012 with 68 sexual abuse and 18 physical abuse cases by the Ministry of Women, Social Welfare and Poverty.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary Govind Sami said it was mandatory to report sexual abuse under the Child Welfare Decree 2010 by all professionals.
“The ministry has established a National Child Welfare Register in 2012, in response to the Decree.” Mr Sami said.
“It is very important to report to the ministry as they have networks and resources to address such issues.
