It will be hard to single out any player during the Fiji Sun/Natadola Pro Am Golf tournament, says Jose Calleja.
The Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course general manager says the event, which is scheduled for Monday, will feature some top players from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
“On a one-day tournament, it’s difficult to single out one player, especially if the South East trade winds dominate the day,” Calleja said.
“All players have the capability of winning, however, during this time of the year players who play well in the wind have the advantage. “The Fiji Sun and Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course have a great partnership which was established prior to my arrival into the country,” Calleja said.
“This inaugural event demonstrates a partnership which continues to grow.
“This partnership is aimed to the delivery of golfing events to Fiji.
“Natadola Bay is proud to be in partnership with the Fiji Sun and it’s a partnership we would like to continue for many years to come.”
Calleja said the golf course was also in a fantastic shape for the tournament.
Some of the players that will be featuring at the tournament are Elliot Booth, Denise Brosnan, John Colllins, Brad Hawkins Andrew Green, Andrew Gurney, Jared Pender and locals like Anasa Seruvatu, Apenisa Koroicure and Krishna Singh to name a few.
Calleja said InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa would also sponsor a Nearest to the Pin (NTP) prize on the 4th hole of two nights accommodation.
“They have also sponsored a hole in one prize of five nights accommodation to the first person who scores a Hole in One on the 4th hole,” he said.
