Fire defeated Raiwaqa 18-5 in the Suva Rugby Union premier division competition at Albert Park on Saturday.
The National Fire Authority with the services of Suva reps, Leone Tabuarua and Jerry Tokomalua, played well to hand Raiwaqa their first loss.
This was the third win for Fire in the competition. Fire, during their first year in the SRU Koroturaga grade competition in 2010, reached the final.
Fire manager, Timoci Nakaruru, said the team played well.
“Our players improved a lot to win this game. We have a young side and our players are learning in every game.”
Fire led 13-0 at halftime and in the second half the side continued with the same momentum to win the match 18-5.
The side in their earlier games this year defeated Nabua and Marist. Fire now moves to sixth position in the competition with 18 points after playing eight games.
