Rewa is optimistic of defending their Battle of the Giants title next month.
This was after scoring a comfortable 2-0 win against Tavua in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League match at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.
The ‘Delta Tigers’ are serious of defending their BOG title under the guidance of their coach/player Marika Rodu.
“We are taking our games seriously as we build up to the BOG,” Rodu said.
“The win against Tavua was crucial for us.”
The ‘Delta Tigers’ now moves to third position in the points standings with 18 points.
“Our target is to defend the BOG,” Rodu said.
Nasoni Mereke drew first blood in the 29th minute for the team to lead by a goal at halftime.
In the second half, Rewa put more pressure and Apisai Smith made it 2-0 in the 50th minute.
Tavua Football president Shalendra Roy said his players were tired.
“It’s our second game in 24 hours and our players were tired after playing against Navua on Saturday at home,” Roy said.
“We would like to request Fiji FA National League Board to postpone our upcoming matches for two weekends so that our players can recover well as we have been playing games continuously for the past weekends.”
