Investment seminar does well in West

By LITIA MATHEWSELL

Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki yesterday commended the impressive number of participants at Investments Fiji’s seminar in Nadi, which he said indicates the interest shown in helping the country grow and increase investment.
The seminar at the Tokatoka Resort is one of three 2nd Quarter Investment Seminar’s held by Investment Fiji to revitalise investments performance in the country.
Commander Cawaki said the seminar’s ‘Shaping your future through investments’ theme was appropriate as investments would contribute to shaping the future of the country.
The seminar featured a number of key speakers, including Kelera Buatoko, the Manager Policy of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCA).
She said FRCA was working on amending the current income tax law to
accommodate some international needs, which will soon be taken to Cabinet for implementation.
Ms Buatoko also said that at present, Fiji offered the most attractive movie tax rebate in the world, offering 47 percent tax rebate that can be taken from expenditure in Fiji.
She said contributed to the surge in overseas movies being filmed here, with resultant benefits.
