Darryl Saville is the first king contestant in the history to be crowned as Mr. Savusavu during the Savusavu Crime Prevention Carnival.
The two days carnival at Foreshore Park in Savusavu ended during the weekend.
22-year-old lad residing in Buca, Savusavu was overwhelmed to be chosen out of the nine king contestants.
“It was a very tough competition because it was only for two days and first time such an event was organised,” Mr. Saville said.
“I dedicate this win to the people of Hidden Paradise of Fiji,” he added.
Mr. Saville works as loan officer at the Fiji Development Bank Savusavu branch and is the only son in the family.
His father is originally from Scotland but he has maternal links to Benau in Savusavu.
“I would not want to be anywhere else in the world than Savusavu,” Mr. Saville said.
“I am honoured to be chosen as Savusavu’s first King,” he added.
His hobbies are playing the guitar, hockey, table tennis and badminton.
Mr Saville won a return ticket from Savusavu to Nadi on Island Hoppers, along with a copper and brass crown made by the very talented Shane Bower. Savusavu Crime Prevention treasurer Sharon Wild said the two days carnival was successful.
“The idea of Mr. Savusavu came to me long ago when I was thinking of ways to increase pride and participation in our town,” Ms Wild said.
