Gambling file goes to DPP

The file of 16 Chinese nationals charged with gambling without a license will be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Police prosecutor, Corporal Narisa Reddy, told the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday that they wanted further advice from the DPP about the case.
The accused persons are represented by lawyer, Rajendra Chaudhry.
The 16 men deny one count each of gambling without a license and operating a business without a license.
They were arrested after a raid on July 30, last year at the Angel Club, Victoria Parade in Suva.
The 16 are Billy Cheng, Lum Moon Woot, Yuen Sili Kui, Xufeng Su, Lee Yuk Hom, Zhu Hong Zhi, Shunrong Dheng, Lee Pui Chin, Zhong Hua Yao, Lo Kwok Oh, Xiokong Kuang, Kelly Zhu, Jin Ling Huang, Guoten Huang, Huang Dong and Lu Kung Yee.
The matter will be called again on August 1 for court to be informed the progress on the part of the prosecution.
