Two government officials from the Ministry of Primary Industries have been offered scholarships for graduate study on fisheries sciences in Korea.
The two beneficiaries of the scholarship are Neomai Wati Ravitu, who is an assistant fisheries officer, and Richard Rahul Veeran, who is a fisheries research assessment and development assistant.
They will study Fisheries Science at Graduate School of Pukyong National University (PKNU) in Busan, Korea from June 27, 2012 to August 28, 2013 along with 20 other participants of the scholarship programme.
The KOICA-PKNU International Graduate Programme of Fisheries Science (GFS) has been designed to share Korea’s experience in this field, and to strengthen partnerships with participating countries. KOICA covers tuition fees, a round-trip air tickets, accommodation and meals during their stay in Korea.
Scholarship recipient, Ms Ravitu said, “Going to Korea would be a valuable experience and she is grateful for the opportunity given by KOICA.”
“Fiji being surrounded by ocean, the development of fisheries is essential for the future of Fiji.”
They will leave for Korea at the end of this month.
