The road death toll currently stands at seventeen compared to nineteen for the same period last year.
The police force is not taking chances and is beefing up operations in partnership with the Land Transport Authority.
Police director traffic, Senior Superintendent, Mahesh Mishra said officers from both organisations have prioritised making our roads safe for all.
This joint operation would see the force combine resources with the authority in man power and capabilities for vast monitoring along the major highways that have claimed so many lives.
SSP Mishra also said that over a month they brought in more vehicles to assist them in patrolling highways.
“We are serious about making sure that reckless drivers are taken off our roads, the police would have no drop policy during the operation.
“If you are not going to follow the road rules then you at risk of facing penalties that are in place,” he added.
