Flying Fijians skipper Netani Talei is in doubt for the clash against Tonga at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday.
Talei was told to take a rest from training yesterday after he copped an injury against Scotland.
National rugby coach Inoke Male said that they are going to confirm Talei’s availability as they get closer to naming their line-up.
It was also confirmed that injured openside flanker Malakai Ravulo has left for New Zealand along with Kameli Ratuvou who has returned to London to join his club.
Despite the injuries, Male said, the players a confident of a win and to avenge last year’s loss.
“The boys are working on our weaknesses from last week,” the former national forward said.
“One such weakness was our decision making, which saw many wrong options being taken. It’s going to be a tough game this week and Tonga will be playing upfront. “They are using their forwards against us and they have a great mauling technique so they’ll do what the Scottish did last weekend- they are going to use their forwards a lot,” Male said.
He said there are capable players in the team that can do the job.
“We did well against Scotland and were able to turnover balls from their possession, that was a good sign for us so we are very confident this week,”
The national rugby team took time out to host a rugby clinic for secondary school players at the Central College ground in Lautoka.
