For someone who never gambles, winning a brand new Toyota Hilux through Digicel and BSP’s text promotion during the IRB 7s Season, was a dream come true for the Tawake family.
Semisi Tawake was announced the winner of the promotion in front of an estimated crowd of 15,000 last weekend during the Fiji vs Scotland test match.
Digicel yesterday handed the keys for the Toyota Hilux to Mr Tawake.
Mr Tawake, who resides on Beqa Island runs a backpackers inn at Naceva Village on Beqa, called Lawaki Beach House.
Thanking Digicel and BSP for their win, Mr Tawake said the vehicle would really help him logistically with the business as they are in need of a vehicle.
His wife, Christine Tawake, who was the lucky charm of their win, texted three times and had forgotten about the promotion until they received the call that they had won the vehicle.
Mrs Tawake said although they don’t have roads on Beqa, the vehicle would be very useful when they get off the boat in Navua to do shopping and other businesses on Viti Levu.
“This means we can now get rid of our old second hand vehicle and enjoy the luxury of a brand new vehicle – all thanks to Digicel and BSP,” she said.
The draw marks the end of the text promotion that also saw other winners win trips to the Wellington and Hong Kong 7s whilst other winners won autographed jerseys, rugby balls and cash.
Digicel Fiji’s Joji Fatiaki said the competition had an overwhelming response over the last five months.
