Nadi Muslim College recently held a special assembly and an after function to commemorate the mammoth efforts of their swimming team.
For the eighth year in a row, the NMC swim team clinched top honours in the National Schools Swimming Competition in Suva last week.
The memorable feat at the National Aquatic Centre saw the team claim 43 gold medals, 21 silver and 24 bronze medals to be named the overall winners of the national competition, with 26 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals also landing them the women’s division title.
School principal Mohammed Hassan said he was thankful for the collective glory thrust upon his school by their champion swimmers.
Also receiving special thanks were the Nagatalevu, Pene, Rova and Samisoni families, who have provided the school team with top notch swimmers for the 10 years NMC has participated in competitive swimming meets.
‘’This year was special because we brought the highest number of medals in the history of Secondary School Swimming Competitions,’’ said manager Hafiz.
