Six Chinese nationals charged for the alleged murder of another were refused bail by the High Court in Suva on Friday.
Yang Xiu Qi, Hu Jian Zhan, Bill Hao, Liu Chuan Wei, Veng Seong Tam and Dai Jian were alleged to have murdered Robert Fong on April 8, this year in Suva.
Judge Justice Sailesi Temo said that the accused were innocent until proven guilty.
Justice Temo said the interest of the State must be protected along with the interest of the accused men as the murder charge was serious.
All six were remanded in custody until further orders of the court.
Yang Xiu Qi and Hu Jian Zhan who were said to be touring Fiji were attempting to flee the country when they were arrested by police at Nadi International Airport.
Justice Temo said the pair were flight risks. The prosecution alleges that the two were hired to commit the murder.
According to the State, Bill Hao was one of the main organisers of the plan to kill the deceased and the case against the accused was very strong.
The court also heard that Li Chuan Wei was alleged to be one of those that planned and executed the killing of the deceased and sponsored those who were allegedly hired to commit the murder.
VengĀ Seong Tam was alleged to be instrumental in organising and implementing the murder of the deceased.
Dai Jian was alleged to have been involved in the organising, planning and execution of the murder of the deceased.
A trial date for the case has been set from between May 6 to 28 June, 2013.
