Samoa netball coach Marcia Hardcastle said the 2012 LICI Pacific Netball Series was a new building ground for her team.
“From day one we did not underestimate any teams,”she said.
“I just reminded the girls to give their best performance and even though we failed to meet our target, we are satisfied coming second to Fiji.
Papua New Guinea netball coach Monalisa Leka congratulated her young Under 21 players.
“We had a lot of debutants in our side and I’m very impressed with their performance during this tournament. They have been playing well and it was also a good exposure an eye opener for them. This is also a good experience for them.
“Fiji was too good, Una and I played together and we are still competing from the bench but now it’s mentally and not physically. I see that a great challenge for me and we hope to see each other more often in the coming years,” Leka said.
“Fijians are natural athletes and Rokoura has just put the icing on the cake.”
Meanwhile, Cook Islands Margaret Foster said the PNS was not a very important tournament for them but it is the 2014 Commonwealth Games that they have set eyes on.
“We will need to strengthen our HPU back in Cook Islands and set our target for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,” Foster said.
Fiji coach Unaisi Rokoura salutes the girls for the job well done.
“They have done the hard yards, we were all working hard for the win and retaining the title was our aim.”
