FNU major sponsor of Kula Awards

By RACHNA LAL

Film Fiji has entered into a strategic partnership with the Fiji National University (FNU) for its annual Kula Films Awards.
With a sponsorship of $20,000, this makes FNU the premier sponsor of the awards event which recognises the budding talent of our youth, high school students in particular.
Film Fiji acting chief executive, Florence Swamy, welcomed the sponsorship and said such partnerships were essential in order to recognise the talents of our younger generation.
This, she said, became equally important as Fiji is poised for quite a significant number of movies being shot in Fiji.
Entries from all schools will be shown on FBC TV on July 13 and viewers will have the opportunity to vote for the most popular film.
All other entries will be judged by a panel of professionals and awards will be presented for best actor, best actress, best director, best script and best original music.
Ms Swamy said a new category for best camerawork has been introduced and the main award would be the best film.
The dance competition will be held on July 27 and the FNU Kula Film Awards on July 28, both at the National Gymnasium in Suva.
FNU director for UniStudios, Ravi Malik, said they were glad to be part of the awards.
