The 2012 Music Awards at the Vineyard Restaurant in Suva is heading for a full house tonight.
By last night all tickets to the annual event were sold out.
It was a record in the three-year running of the show.
Co-ordinator and sponsor, Mohammed Akeif of Proceera Music Shop, said the popularity of the event forecasted a new tune for local musicians and entertainers.
“Fiji has the potential to elevate the standard of the music industry to an outstanding level,” Mr Akeif said.
“This is an annual event that has been ongoing for the past three years. It’s aimed to award musicians for the work they have done in lifting the standard of music in Fiji.
“The musicians will be awarded according to categories like Sigidrigi, Bhajan, Meke, Vude, and many other categories. This is something that local musicians always look forward to,” Mr. Akeif said.
The night will feature local artists like Laisa Vulakoro, Jale Mareau, Malumu Ni Tobu kei Naivaukura group and Savuto Vakadewavosa.
“This is a sold out event.
“We hope fans would turn out in large numbers to show their support. Government is helping us to fight piracy because we musicians want a fair share for our hard work,” Mr Akeif said.
