Northerners urged: Register now

By LOSIRENE CHAND

Ninety-five electronic voter registration (EVR) teams were deployed to the Northern Division this week.
EVR proper started at the Commissioner Northern’s Complex, Macuata House, in Labasa yesterday.
Commissioner Northern Lieutenant-Colonel Ilai Moceica has urged the people of Vanua Levu to take advantage of the registration period.
He was among the first to register at the northern centre, among other civil servants.
The voter’s population in the division is around 70,257. There are 313 voting registration centres in the division.
“Teams will be going through the entire provinces of Macuata, Cakaudrove and Bua for eight weeks.
“We are encouraging all who are 18 years and above to come forward and get registered. This will enable them to vote in the 2014 general elections,” Lieutenant-Colonel Moceica said.
Voting registrations also started in Taveuni at the District Officer’s office.
