Behind every successful man is a woman, and this can ring true for Hari Raj Naicker.
His involvement in the soccer fraternity both locally and in the Oceania region awarded him with the FIFA Order of Merit, the highest award that can be given by soccer’s international governing body, FIFA.
He was awarded the FIFA Order of Merit during the 62nd FIFA Congress at Budapest last week.
And for 49 years, Kamla Naicker has been supportive of her husband, being the silent worker behind the scenes.
“I am happy for his achievement and I am also happy that he has achieved his goal,” Kamla said.
Her perception of marriage is something she believes that is the bond between her marriage and her husband’s daily busy schedule.
“I believe marriage is all about sharing and caring for each other. I know that I have fulfilled my duties in being a supportive wife, assisting him through all those hard times,” she said.
Born and bred in Labasa, Naicker represented his district for two years -1963 and 1964, while being a school teacher up North.
He later joined Ba in 1965 after he was transferred to the Western Division. He was then a secondary school teacher.
He was involved in all aspects of the sport; from being a player, to a referee and later being an administrator at national and regional level. That was finally being paid off.
“Referees and players in the country are to be dedicated and work hard inorder to be successful,” Naicker said.
