The Fiji Boxing Commission yesterday announced the dissolution of the Boxing Fiji Association (BFA), the body which runs amateur boxing in the country.
This is after the association failed to meet certain regulations in the Fiji Boxing Commission constitution.
In 2008, Government had asked that the BFA to be abolished. The previous board members of the Fiji Boxing Commission abolished the amateur boxing parent body but continues amateur fights and promotions.
“We have notified all stakeholders of our decision to dissolve the association,”Commission chairman John Rabuku said.
“A lot of amateur boxers were not registered but they would now have to register as of today.
“The Commission has stepped in and will be looking after all dealings regarding amateur boxing in the country.”
