Building a sustainable democracy and a modern economy is hard work, says the United States Ambassador to Fiji, Frankie Reed.
She officiated at the Vodafone Bula Festival 2012 youth night in Nadi yesterday.
“Building a modern economy that takes advantage of Fiji’s abundant natural and human resources, fully engaged with the world market, is no small task, but all are up to the challenge,” Ms Reed said.
“Young people in Fiji will play a large role in determining what that future will look like.
“We have seen your fighting spirit as you overcome natural disasters, remaining optimistic, helping your friends and neighbours, and rebuilding to become even stronger.
“You all belong to a remarkable generation of young people not only here in Fiji but across the world.
“We value your voices, your energy and your unique perspectives and we want to work with you to explore your world,” she said.
The festival ends on Saturday.
