As part of their build up to the Inter-District Championship, Navosa netters will play a warm up match against Nasinu.
Navosa Netball president Judy Kumar yesterday confirmed that the association will be fielding three womens teams and an Open men’s team for the encounter on July 28.
“We are grateful to our sponsors Fiji Gas for paying for our transportation,” Kumar said.
“To be honest development of netball here in Navosa is not that high, and it is these acts of kindness that will help us prepare well for big tournaments.”
The Outrigger on the Lagoon Navosa team will be their A team in the friendly against Nasinu, Warwick Fiji Navosa will be Team B, and the Sigatoka River Safari Navosa team will be entering the tournament as Team C.
The men’s team will be known as the Tru Blue Frenz Navosa team, while the Under-21 girls’ team will be called the Mawi Boat Charters Navosa team.
“We are organising this kind of matches, because we want to see more players being named in the national squad,” Kumar said.
Former netball reps, Elenoa Vatureba and Talica Urutoki are the products of Navosa Netball.
“We have some very good, tall defenders but we can’t market their game because we are seen as minors.”
Apart from the Nasinu tour, all teams affiliated to the Navosa Netball will be participating in the Kai Colo Cup which on July 21, at the Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
