Two students from Rishikul Sanatan College will soon undergo training and get hands-on experience in the fashion industry.
The students made their debut on and off the stage at the ‘Rip the Run Fashion Show’ which was held at the school yesterday.
Form six student Vivian Engu and fashion show organiser, seventh former Krishnil Prasad have been chosen to assist to organise the 2012 Fiji Fashion Week; which kicks off in October.
Fiji Fashion Week director Ellen Whippy-Knight said: “I am very surprised at how the event turned out. I think the models did an excellent job and the show was very well executed.”
She said the show was a great start and was a chance for other schools to have their own little fashion shows to encourage young people to design and make their own clothing.
Fashion show organisers Krishnil Prasad, Shamil Ali and Komal Chand said the show took three weeks to organise and was a collaborative effort of teachers, students, school management and sponsors.
“To hold the fashion show cost us around $500 and through the help of our nine sponsors, home economics teachers and student models and those who helped, we would have never accomplished anything,” Mr Prasad said.
Ms Whippy-Knight, Nazia Ali and Aliyah Jan were the three judges at the show.
The students aim to be able to contribute towards our textile industry.
