The 2012 FNU Kula Film Awards, held last night showcased some of the upcoming talent in Fiji that will be a part of the budding film industry.
The acting chief executive officer of Film Fiji Florence Swamy said the programme was for young children to expand their repertoire of dance skills and film.
“Each year there are better films made. It is important for us to give opportunities for youth to allow them to showcase their production and screen them to larger communities to bring them and their talent outside and seek professional training,” Mrs Swamy said.
She urged youths to develop a career with higher education in the developing field of production and audio visual industry in the country.
Mrs Swamy said with Fiji being used as a destination for a number of Bollywood films, such encouragement was needed.
Forty schools participated in this year’s competition.
