
Fiji has been invited to the 2012 International Life Saving Federation (ILSF) Lifesaving World Championship in Adelaide, South Australia.

Fiji will be represented at the 2012 International Life Saving Federation (ILSF) Lifesaving World Championships to be held from November 3-12 in Adelaide, South Australia.
This year’s event will be known as Rescue 2012.
Fiji Surfing Association’s (FSA) Cassandra Thomas said an official invitation has been given to the Royal Life Saving Society of Fiji (RLSSF), which is an arm of the FSA.
She said the invitation is to attend the Lifesaving and Sports development programme and the national teams championship has been extended by Rescue 2012 host Surf Life Saving Australia, which is willing to sponsor the Fiji National Lifesaving Team of five athletes and officials to attend Rescue 2012.
Fiji will submit the names of its national team later this month after holding a National Lifesaving competition to finalise participants.

She said on the duration of the Rescue 2012, all teams will participate in organised coaching and training programmes, aimed to enhance skills in life saving and will then compete in the national team championships
The selection criteria for those athletes interested in participating involves:
n FSA Lifeguard Award
n Visa requirements of Australia
n Physical fitness and performance in the Fiji Lifesaving competition.
