Former Suva businessman, Benjamin Padarath, was denied bail again by the Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
Padarath who is jointly charged for one count of forgery with Suva lawyer, Aseri Vakaloloma, pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged the pair had between October 14 and December 31, 2009, with intent to defraud, forged the Articles of Association for BECP Engineering Construction Fiji Limited by making a false page 27 of the Articles of Association.
They allegedly altered the particulars of subscribers from Adishwar Padarath of 57 Duncan Road, Domain, Suva, to Voreqe Bainimarama of 228 Ratu Sukuna Road, Domain, Suva.
It is alleged that Vakaloloma had placed his signature as the witness to the signature of purported subscribers and Padarath had placed his signature as one of the subscribers.
Tobia Ravuniwa appeared for Padarath. He told the court that disclosures in the matter were served to them.
Vakaloloma was released on bail while Padarath was further remanded into custody. The case was adjourned to August 24 for a pre-trial conference.
