Riding high on their 2-1 victory over Rewa yesterday, Savusavu soccer coach, Manoj Lal believes his local boys can do the job in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League and Inter-District Championship.
Lal plans on liaising with soccer reps who are originally from Savusavu to come and join the team ahead of the IDC in October.
“My priority is for local boys from Savusavu to join the team,”Lal said
“I’m looking at Jone Lati and Pita Bolaitoga and a few more to come and play for us.”
Officials upset Rewa
Rewa soccer team manager Nishant Maharaj yesterday questioned the independence of the referee and match officials at Ratu Ganilau Park in Savusavu yesterday.
This was after the Delta Tigers were flashed two yellow cards and a red card.
Maharaj has voiced his concern after there were questionable infringements raised by the referee instead of doing the same with the Savusavu team.
Match official officiating the game, according to Maharaj were locals as the majority were from Labasa.
Meanwhile, Savusavu coach Manoj Lal applauded his team.
“I thank my boys for a superb game, we are very fortunate to have some very good players in our team,” Lal said.
“This is an achievement for us, especially playing against a team that took part in the Battle of the Giants tournament last month.”
Lal said his team has former Fiji reps and three players from Labasa who have really boosted the team with their experience.
