Members of the public can now view electronic voter registration (EVR) update through the social network, Facebook.
The link to the site is www.facebook.com/Fijielectionsoffice.
Permanent Secretary for the Elections Office, Mere Vuniwaqa, said the page has been there since the start of the EVR period.
“It has been an extremely useful tool to engage with Fijians who use social media and we have been able to share relevant information and updates, as well as the individual stories of different Fijians who have come to be registered.”
Ms Vuniwaqa said the office had also been able to answer enquiries that were sent to the office through this Facebook page.
“Even some registration clerks have also used the page to contact us.”
She encouraged all Fijians with access to the internet to have a look at the page because people are free to share photos and stories of their own surrounding during the EVR process.
Meanwhile, registrations continued at centres across the country.
“A selected number of registration centres will remain open after August 31 to continue to register Fijians, especially those who are not yet 18.
“The intensive period of registration ends on the August 31,which means that after this date there will no longer be the hundreds of centres that are now open across the country nor will registration clerks be visiting your residential areas to carry out registrations in your locality.”
