Fiji Sugar Corporation executive chairman, Abdul Khan, on Wednesday toured the Labasa Sugar Mill, accompanied by a representative from our sugar brokers in the United Kingdom.
Mr Khan said the representative from London was here to brief FSC staff in the North on what was happening in the sugar industry worldwide.
“We had a representative from our sugar brokers, Czarnikow of London, and he was able to provide our staff with what is happening in the industry worldwide,” Mr Khan said.
In addition, Mr Khan said he also needed to address some issues during this trip.
“Most of the issues that I came to address were basically pertaining to the running of the Labasa Mill,” he said.
When asked about what FSC would do to address the problem of shortage of the supply of cane in the North, Mr Khan said they were working with all the relevant stakeholders to find a solution.
“We are working with all the stakeholders to find the right solution on a case-by-case basis,” he said.
Mr Khan said he was not present when the Permanent Secretary for Sugar Lieutenant-Colonel Manasa Vaniqi toured the North last week.
