Council is seeking to recruit qualifi ed and experienced personnel for the following vacant positions:
1. SENIOR CLERICAL OFFICER (HUMAN RESOURCES)
The successful applicant will be based in the Human Resources Section and should have a Diploma in
Business Studies (Management) with a minimum of 1 – 2 years experience in a clerical role.
The main duties of the above position are to analyse applications received for vacancies advertised
internally and externally, arrange and conduct interviews for waged and salaried positions and prepare
interview reports accordingly; attend to the general public seeking employment; updating salaried staff
personal cards through absentee return reports and prepare salary adjustments; preparing reports and
typing of daily correspondence for the Human Resources Section and taking minutes of meetings as
and when the need arises.
The applicant must be computer literate and a qualifi cation in information technology would be desirable.
Salary will be in accordance with qualifi cations and experience in the Category 6 of the Council’s salary
scale of $12,724 – $17,214 per annum.
2. JUNIOR CLERK – RATES
The successful applicant will be based in the Rates Section, Finance Department and should pass Fiji
School Leaving Examination as well as possess a Certifi cate or Diploma in Accounting or Business
Studies with a minimum of 1 – 2 years experience in a clerical role and has knowledge of Rates collection.
The overall purpose of this position is to assist in the collection of rates and maintaining up to date
records and information.
The main duties of the above position are to balance receipts with the Cash Register Report and recording
in the manual Cash Book; assist in the preparation of various computer inputs; assist in checking
of edits before fi nal processing; reconcile individual ratepayer’s accounts when necessary or when directed;
provide counter service and attend to any enquiries; fi le all daily receipts in sequence; fi le all
computer reports, edits, fi nal ledger and input documents securely for future reference; Maintaining and
updating Attornment Register at all times, compile and maintain records of all returned Rate Demand
Notices; carrying out searches at the Titles Offi ce; posting of payroll deductions and VAT calculations;
posting of direct banking received, adjustments and VAT calculations; inspection of properties where
rate notices are hand-delivered.
Salary will be in accordance with qualifi cations and experience in the Category 7 of the Council’s salary
scale of $10,286 – $13,915 per annum.
