Top China legislator to visit Fiji

The Fijian Government is making preparations to host the Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, Wu Bangguo, when he visits the country later this month.

A Ministry of Information statement says Mr Wu’s visit symbolises the growing relations shared between Fiji and the People’s Republic of China since diplomatic relations were forged in 1975.

Mr Wu, who is the second most senior official within the party as well as being China’s top legislator, arrives here on the 20th of this month and will meet the President and the Prime Minister.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, Wu Bangguo, who will visit Fiji later this month.
