IDC’s youngest, oldest

By SITERI NAVUTOVUTO

The youngest and oldest players in 2012 Courts Inter- District Championship are proud of their home team, Savusavu.
They are Patrick Sarwan, 16,   and 48- year old George Singh.
Sarwan, a student of Savusavu Secondary School, has been playing soccer since he was nine years old.
“I want to be the best footballer in the country,” he said.
“I believe that I am slowly progressing and I thank the experienced Savusavu players for believing in me and giving me a chance to be part of the team.
“This is my first ever IDC tournament and the first time also for me to compete with the big boys.”
Sarwan said that when he first played in the first day of the tournament, he came to realise that he was no longer playing with small boys.
George, the younger brother of Sarwan and Koko Singh, who once represented the country in football, said he is proud to be the oldest player in the tournament and is also proud to represent his home team.
He believes he can still contribute to the development of soccer in Savusavu and more can be done to take the district to another level of football.
Both Sarwan and Singh are proud of Savusavu and they admitted that nothing beats playing for your own home team.
