Rokocoko, Sivivatu home to play
By VUNIWAQA BOLA-BARI
Joe Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu will play against the Flying Fijians in their black colours here at home.
“The speedsters are coming with the Classic All Blacks in June to play against the Flying Fijians in celebration of Fiji Rugby’s centennial celebration” former All Blacks legend Andy Haden said.
Haden told SUNSports from NZ yesterday that the duo would join former All Blacks players like Jerome Kaino, Adam Thompson, Chris Masoe, Jerry Collins and Daniel Braid.
“We knew FRU was keen to have a match, they had wanted the British and Irish Lions to come after their Australia tour but they couldn’t; they invited the All Blacks which I was aware of but because of their series against France, that was also impossible.
“So I thought we would put together the team as we have toured together many times around the world and bring the Classic All Blacks to Fiji to celebrate Fiji Rugby’s centennial celebrations,” team manager Haden said.
“Jonah Lomu and Andrew Mehrtens are no longer playing but the exciting one for the Fijians would be to watch the two Fijian wingers Joe and Sitiveni.
“It will be great to have them in the black jersey,” he added.
The Classic All Blacks is an evolving brand that kicked off soon after they opened doors at Sporting Contacts.
The Classic All Black team has been going to the World Rugby Classic in Bermuda every November since 1989.
Their Classic All Blacks logo now represents the team of former All Blacks who are no longer contracted to New Zealand Rugby.
The match will be on June 12 and will be the first rugby match to be held at the newly-renovated ANZ National Stadium.
