Suva’s picnic park opens next month


‘My Suva Picnic Park’ is expected to open on November 7, says Suva City administrator Chandu Umaria.
With 80 per cent of the work complete, Mr Umaria says the public are in for treat.
The $1.7 million project has features that the public can enjoy.
It will include a fish pond, full security services, a convenience hall, changing and feeding rooms for mothers and their babies, and an entertainment bure.
“Later on we are going to have at least six different food kiosk for the public,” Mr Umaria said.
Smoking, owners with dogs, and cyclists will be confined to specific areas in the park.
“People can enjoy beach volleyball and for the first time there is going to be playing facility such as swings and slides for adults as well,” he said.
“People can also do barbecue at the spot provided that they bring with them their own gas cylinders since firewood is not allowed.”
