The newspaper is owned
by Sun (Fiji) News Ltd and was launched in September 1999. It is still
owned and operated by a group of local investors and is Fiji’s only wholly
nationally owned daily newspaper. The company employs a total staff of 92
with a further 40-plus under sub contractors. The newspaper is published
seven days per week except for Good Friday and Christmas Day.
The company’s line of
Goss Community web offset presses is the most up to date newspaper
production facility in the country and is known for its quality of full
color reproduction.
In recent times the
newspaper has developed a reputation for breaking news stories of national
significance and has won the leading news and photographic awards in the
national print category at the Fiji Media Council annual presentation.
