There is no problem in Fiji, says tourist

4/14/2009

Australian tourist Donovin Light is enjoying his stay in Fiji since his arrival on Good Friday and says “there is no problem in Fiji”.

“There is no problem here in Fiji and I’m enjoying my stay in this wonderful paradise,” Mr Light said.

He is not even aware of the travel advisory put in place by his government.

Mr Light said he remembered the 2000 coup.

“I remember that there was a coup in Fiji maybe some five years back when a bald headed man seized control”

That was he said the last political issue he knew about Fiji.

Originally from Canberra in Australia, Mr Light said there seemed to be no problem as there were no road blocks in sight and the people had been extremely friendly.

When asked on holiday cost in Fiji, Mr Light said Fiji was not an expensive destination.

“I don’t think t Fiji is expensive as I would have spent the same amount of money if I was back home. “

This visit was his first with his wife and daughter.

Meanwhile according to Smuggles Cove Beach Resort and Hotel General Manager Rohit Ritesh Lal. visitors arrival has been unaffected by the recent political twist “In fact it is likely to pick up and we have been busy well before the Easter Weekend,” said Mr Lal.

He said they were selling out their rooms on flat rate, all continental breakfast inclusive and only returning guest were given discount rate

“We are currently enjoying 50 per cent occupancy rate and I think even travel advisory won’t stop tourists from visiting Fiji.”

Mr Lal said he knew the Australian Government had cautioned tourists coming to Fiji on the unresolved political situation in the country but this would not pose a problem.

He said their customers also came from the United Sates and the United Kingdom and Europe so travel advisory was not a worry.
