Sisa has Fiji at heart

10/26/2009

Sale Sharks blockbusting looseman Sisa Koyamaibole wants to play for Fiji.

Speaking to SUNsports from England yesterday Koyamaibole has declared his availability for Fiji during the upcoming Europe Tour.

Despite being dropped from the Flying Fijians Europe tour squad Koyamaibole maintained his loyalty for the country.

“I will not back down playing for Fiji and it’s always a privilege representing my country,” Koyamaibole told SUNsports.

“As long as my service is needed for Fiji I will be more than happy to play.

“I’m coping well here with my new club and I was surprised to know that I have been selected in the Heineken Cup team last week.

“And if Fiji needs my services during the Europe tour, I will grab the opportunity.”

Koyamaibole said he was disappointed when he learnt through the Fiji media that he was not eligible to play for the Europe tour because of injury and lack of game time.

All these reports he said are baseless and his selection in the Heineken Cup team of the week proved it all.

“I was shocked to learn that the selectors dropped me because I was unfit and lack game time,” the former Suva skipper said.

“I’m fit and have been in my team’s starting lineup for the last two games.

“Some of my relatives in Fiji have been calling me and were concerned on my performance and I’m really disappointed with the decisions made by the selectors.”

Koyamaibole however stated that his loyalty to Fiji Rugby always remained and would be available at any given time if he gets the nod.

I’m a Fijian and I always love and proud representing my country in rugby.”

“I have also forgiven the selectors regarding the comments they stated regarding my selection and I will always available to play for Fiji,” he added.

Koyamaibole has been hitting the Heineken Cup rugby headlines for the last two weeks.

The former Flying Fijian powerhouse was the lone Fijian selected in the Heineken Cup Round Two team of the week after his powerful display in Europe.

His sublime performance for Sale forced Koyamaibole in the Heineken Cup team ahead of other top players in Europe.

Media reports in Europe describe this man mountain’s performance as the best number eight at the Heineken Cup.

“Power, power and yet more power from the colossal Fijian. Koyamaibole has certainly stepped into Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe’s shoes with a different style of play that worked wonders for his team,” the report said.
