Cibi ban stays

11/27/2009

Flying Fijians manager Joseph Browne yesterday confirmed to SUNsports from Romania that the national 15s team would not perform the cibi in their last Europe tour game against Romania this Sunday.

Despite earlier comments made by His Excellency the President of Fiji and FRU trustees Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and the Prime Minister of Fiji and former FRU president Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama for the team to perform the cibi, Browne said they maintained their stand regarding the issue.

Browne said the team management and the players have made their stand and they won't perform the cibi before the Romania game.

“No cibi,” Browne said.

“This issue is something we will have to deal with when we come home.

“As for the Romania game there will be no cibi and that's it.

“Other than that I can't comment more on the issue until the team arrives home.”

Browne however urged the people of Fiji to unite in supporting the team as they geared up to face Romania in their last Europe Tour game.

He said the team needed our prayers and support since they would be flying the Fiji flag on the international scene.

“We need the prayers from all the people back home to boost our boys as they are about to take on Romania,” said Browne.

“We need positive attitude and we can guarantee our boys will give their best shot against Romania and they are aiming for nothing else but a win.

“These boys will be carrying our hopes and all they need is your prayers and support.”

Browne said the boys are all in top shape and they are raring to go. He signaled out former Fiji Bati flyer and Gloucester new signing Semi Tadulala as the man to watch against Romania.

“Semi looks strong and fit at training and he will definitely add the thrust and fire in the backline,” he said.

“He gelled well with the rest of the boys at their training run and he's expected to shine in his first international rugby outing,” he added.

Fiji lost to Romania 15-17 during their last and only meeting at the 1991 Rugby World Cup.

Fiji will play against Romania on Sunday.
