The people of Labasa immediately took action after hearing the tropical cyclone alert given by authorities yesterday.
Fiji Meteorological service at Nadi yesterday issued warnings across the Fiji Group against Cyclone Mick.
Business proprietors and members of the public took heed of the warning and erected shutters and moved expensive items to higher and safer places.
Church members of Labasa Miracle Centre, situated beside the All Saint Secondary School, near Labasa Town removed the temporary roof of their church.
Church member, Maika Vulicakacaka, said it was necessary to respect the warning.
"What is important is safety and obeying the cyclone warning," said Vulicakacaka.
