The Suva City Council has lifted its ban on some pre-cooked food items.
Council chief executive officer and director health services, Nacanieli Kotoiwasawasa said, “Food baked in lovo such as tavioka, dalo, falawa, tivoli, vudi and others like bila, corn (sila), vakalolo (qalu) and ivi were the food items allowed for sale.
“This decision was the result of consultations that were made considering the process of how these food items were prepared together with a view on the consequences of the ban,” he said.
“All affected market vendors have suffered in recent past weeks.
“However, the council will be closely monitoring food handling, and hygiene practices required in the process of preparation and sale of these food items.
