Digicel National 7s Coach Iliesa Tanivula does not need a specialist playmaker after he named the team for Adelaide and Hong Kong in the IRB 7s Series yesterday.
Tanivula is undecided on which player will stick to the playmakers position.
He has three players in the team who can play the key role but he likes to see all seven men in the field of play as playmakers.
After Waisale Serevi, the only specialist playmaker that rose was his protégé William Ryder.
However, now with Ryder being ruled out for an infection, Tanivula has named Jiuta Lutumailagi as playmaker.
“Jiuta is there, he has been playing there, and we have Niumaia and Nasoni.”
“I’d like to see all seven out there on the field as playmakers; it just depends on what they do out there on the field.”
Meanwhile, in the 13-man team, Pio Tuwai is the only player on injury cloud.
If Tuwai is ruled out, he will join his high work rate forward team mate, Seremaia Burotu in the injury list.
Tanivula said they don’t want to rush on excluding Tuwai as they give him till Sunday to reach 100 per cent fitness.
“We are giving him time to improve as he has been improving well in the last week and couple of days.”
Nadi man, Turuva Lumelume was also named in case Tuwai can not make it.
“There is nothing to rush but both players have been doing well.”
Emosi Vucago, Watisoni Votu and Osea Kolinisau have all been named in the team and Tanivula said they are undoubtedly all 100 per cent fit.
“They have recovered well.”
Tanivula believes he has enough players in the non travelling reserve to cover for any players that might be ruled out due to injury.
