A political representative charged with making a false statement changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) had charged Jale Baba last October under the Political Parties Act of 2013.

He had denied the charge in August but later indicated to the court through his counsel that he wanted to take the progressive approach.

Mr Baba pleaded guilty to publishing falsified Voter Lists and other false information related to that list on Facebook last year, which he knew to be untrue.

Chief Magistrate Mr Usaia Ratuvili adjourned the matter to 6 January 2020 for the Summary of Facts to be read out.
