Rugby brothers Pasikali and Apenisa are just following their father and former Flying Fijians lock forward Apisai Naevo.

Pasikali, a Year 11 student at the Natabua High School, was part of the Eteni Rukunurara Youth Under-18 side during the inaugural Nadi Rugby Union junior competition at Prince Charles Park, Nadi on Saturday.

His younger brother Apenisa, a Year 9 student at Ratu Navula College, featured for the Eteni U16 side.

Both brothers played lock forward and represented Nadi in the National Kaji Rugby age group competitions since 2015.

“Elder brother Apisai wanted us to start a team in the area,” Pasikali said.

“It became part of our Eteni project in the community as well. But dad has been there for us. He played for Nawaka, Nadi and then Fiji.”

Their elder brother Apisai Strachan Naevo who featured for Jack’s Nadi in the Skipper Cup Premiership U19 competitions last year, is switching to 7s.

Currently, he is training with his uncle’s team, Cross of Victory side from Taveuni.

Also in the U18 fold is promising Etuate Tawase, son of former Nadi and Fiji 7s rep Apisai Nagata who played alongside Pasikali.
